The Six Rivers Youth Football Conference wrapped up another fun regular season last weekend, with three teams closing out with a perfect 7-0 record.
And it’s been a good fall for the young Eel River players in particular.
In AAA action, Eel River capped a very impressive run through the regular season with a 43-0 win over the Northern Knights and they have now shut out five of their seven opponents on the way to earning the No. 1 seed.
Eel River and No. 2 seed Ferndale each will have an opening-round bye in the playoffs.
On Sunday, No. 3 McKinleyville will play No. 6 Northern Knights at the Redwood Fields in Cutten, and No. 4 Del Norte Gold will host Hoopa in Crescent City.
Both of those games are set for 3 p.m.
Eel River also put together a perfect 7-0 record on the way to securing the top seed in Single-A.
The young Huskies also got the better of the Northern Knights in their final regular season game last week, winning 47-0.
And they have been even more impressive than their AAA counterparts, having shut out six of their seven opponents this fall, including five straight.
Eureka Junior League also has impressed in Single-A action this fall and earned the No. 2 seed for the playoffs after going 5-2.
Sunday’s playoff action sees the Northern Knights play Del Norte Gold in Crescent City and McKinleyville face off against Del Norte Blue in Cutten.
Both of those games are set for 10 a.m.
The Northern Knights, meanwhile, are the top seeds for the AA postseason bracket.
The high-scoring young Knights will carry plenty of momentum into the playoffs after putting up 100 points in their last two games, including a 60-19 win over Eel River last weekend.
McKinleyville, meanwhile, earned the No. 2 in the bracket after going 6-1 in the regular season.
The opening round of the postseason sees No. 3 Del Norte Gold face off against No. 6 Del Norte Blue in Crescent City and No. 4 Ferndale play No. 5 Hoopa in Cutten.
