Annual Kevin Ebbert Memorial Trail Run set for Aug. 23

HealthSPORT will honor a fallen hero while promoting fitness and fundraising for a worthy cause with a special event later this month.

The annual Kevin Ebbert Memorial Trail Run will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Redwood Community Forest in Arcata and registration is now open.

According to a press release, the event welcomes “runners, walkers, and outdoor enthusiasts to come together in celebration of community, fitness, and the enduring legacy of Kevin Ebbert.”

Ebbert was a Humboldt County native and Navy SEAL who was killed in action in November 2012.

Known for his adventurous spirit, he was a part of the HealthSPORT community and dedicated to fitness and deep roots in the local community.

Check in time is set for 8 a.m., with a 10K beginning at 9 a.m. and a two-mile starting at 9:30 a.m.

According to the press release, “proceeds from the event help support local programs and initiatives that reflect Kevin’s values of service, leadership, and community building.”

This year, all proceeds from the run will benefit the North Coast Rape Crisis Team.

Anyone interested in participating can register here.

  1. What a great a great way to honor one of our fallen heroes who was a Navy Seal and killed in action on November 2012. I stand for the fallen because they are buried under my feet.
