The Humboldt Crabs continued to roll with a pair of non-league wins this week, as they get set for a key weekend series.
The local summer club welcomed the Marysville Giants to the Arcata Ball Park for a pair of games this week and swept the series, winning 5-3 and 10-3.
And the local contingent of pitchers continued to impress against the Giants, including two more who recently joined the team.
Former Arcata Tiger Cedar Cline and former McKinleyville Panther Cameron Saso both debuted with the Crabs in Wednesday’s win.
Saso, who has played for the Crabs in each of the past two summers, pitched one hitless inning in relief to close out the win.
Cline also was making his summer debut with the team and threw one inning in relief, allowing one hit and striking out one.
Starter Spencer Jacobs threw seven innings, allowing four hits and five walks and striking out five.
It was Jacobs’ first win of the summer.
The pitchers got plenty of offensive support, with the Crabs out-hitting the visitors 9-5.
The visitors started strong and scored three runs in the top of the first, but they were held scoreless the remainder of the way.
The Crabs responded quickly, also scoring three runs in the first, and would take the lead with another run in the second.
Cameron Sewell led the Crabs at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with four RBIs and hitting his team co-leading fifth home run of the summer.
Nolan Hamilton, Tyler Howard, Timmy Reed, Tate Medicoff, Cayden Lee, Elijah McNeal and Parker Rodgers each also had a base hit in the win.

Another local pitcher, Miles Oliver, threw five innings for his third win of the summer in Tuesday’s showdown.
The former Arcata and College of the Redwoods standout, who has now appeared in five games for the Crabs this season, gave up one earned run on three hits and two walks and struck out seven.
The Crabs now feature six local pitchers on the roster, all of whom have combined for eight wins this summer, including three each for Oliver and Myles Standish, and one each for CR’s Brock Lenhardt and former Fortuna Husky Cody Collins.
The Crabs had just five hits on the night, including doubles by Lee and Kawana Soares.
Lee finished 2-for-4 and had three RBIs, while Sutter Moss finished 2-for-2 with two walks.
With the two wins, the Crabs improved to 21-4 on the season.
They will host the Solano Mudcats in a three-game league series this weekend, with the action getting under way on the Fourth at 2:30 p.m. in what is usually one of the most popular games for the team every year.
