An impressive run continued for the Little 4 leaders in baseball on Tuesday as they cruised to another big conference win.
St. Bernard’s welcomed Hoopa to Crusader Field and won 12-0 in five innings, stretching the teams’ winning streak to 10 straight.
In their past five games, including three conference matchups, the high-scoring Crusaders have outscored their opponents 72-3.
And while the competition will improve as they head towards the business end of the campaign, for now the L4 leaders are comfortably taking care of business.
Michael Manzi got the win on the mound on Tuesday and also made some noise at the plate.
The standout junior pitched all five innings, giving up just one hit and three walks and striking out six.
He also was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Fellow junior Luke Brunton had the hot bat for the game and finished 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while also scoring three runs.
Adam Wagner added two hits and a run in the win, while Mateo Reiman hit a double, walked twice and had an RBI.
Tyler Maples, Mason Noel and Tyler Hinrichs each also had a hit for SB, which improved to 5-0 in the Little 4 and 12-3 overall, with the latter two also driving in a run each.
Brian Richards had a ground rule double in the opening inning for Hoopa’s only hit of the game, although the Warriors battled effectively early on before the game got away from them.
With the loss, the Hoopa boys dropped to 1-4 in conference and 8-6 overall.
The two schools will play each other again on Thursday afternoon in Hoopa.
