Huskies win two of three games at Bruin Holiday Challenge

The Fortuna boys began to put a disappointing December behind them with an improved showing at last week’s Bruin Holiday Challenge tournament.

The Huskies won two of three games in tournament play and improved to 6-9 on the season, as they get set to open conference play next week.

They opened tournament play with a 69-61 win over Center on Thursday, before losing 71-52 to Hillsdale open Friday and then closing out tournament play with a 52-47 win over Pierce on Saturday.

Junior Jack Stacy, who is enjoying an impressive season with the team, led the Huskies with 20 points and four assists against Center, while Jace Barsanti added 15 points and seven rebounds and also had four assists.

Lolo Payne also impressed in the win and finished with 10 points to go with team-highs in assists (seven) and steals (six).

Owen Wallen added nine points and Hunter Reback pulled down a team-best eight boards.

Stacy continued to impress against Hillsdale and finished with a team-high 21 points as well as six assists and five rebounds, while Barsanti added 15 points and six assists.

Chandler Crenshaw had a good night on the boards and finished with seven rebounds and six points.

The Huskies closed out tournament play against Pierce, with Barsanti and Stacy once again leading the way.

Barsanti had a strong all-around game with team-highs in points (19), assists (eight) and steals (eight), and he also had six rebounds.

Stacy added 15 points and five rebounds., while Crenshaw added six rebounds.

Reback also had five rebounds.

Next up, the Huskies play a single game at Kelseyville on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
