
The Wolford sisters are beginning to find they groove.
On Thursday night, the junior twins helped the Arcata girls basketball team bounce back from a season-opening loss with a strong performance in their tournament opener at the Peyo Classic at Miramonte High School.
The Tigers won the game 45-40 and improved to 1-1 on the season.
Mae Wolford had a double-double in the win and finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, while her sister Tae added 12 points.
Addy Wingate also impressed in the win and finished with eight rebounds.
The Tigers will continue tournament play on Friday night when they play the tournament hosts at 8:30 p.m.
Also in action on Thursday night, the Eureka girls defeated Oroville 52-45 and improved to 3-1, while the Fortuna girls beat Yuba City 45-42 to remain unbeaten at 3-0.
The McKinleyville, Del Norte and St. Bernard’s also won their tournament openers on Thursday.
