Big send off planned for history-making Arcata players on Friday

By Ray Hamill — One week after making school history by winning a first-ever North Coast Section championship in football, the Arcata Tigers are getting set to play for a first-ever Northern Regional championship in the sport.

And the local community is taking notice.

The Tigers will travel to play Winters High near Sacramento on Friday night and the players will receive big send off on their way.

The Tigers will leave for Winters on Friday morning and local fans are being encouraged to come out and show their support.

Fans who wish to show their support can line up on 16th street at 9:15 a.m.

Friday night’s game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Arcata is 12-1 on the season, while Winters is 12-0.

Winters recently won the Division-4 Northern Section championship.

Arcata defeated Miramonte 28-21 in an exciting NCS Division-6 final at McKinleyville High School on Saturday in a game that went right down to the wire.
