By Ray Hamill — Good news for the Ferndale Wildcats, they get to practice on Thanksgiving.
After all it’s not every high school team that has the honor to do so.
But after a grueling and well-deserved 43-7 over Piedmont in Saturday’s North Coast Section Division-7 semifinal, the Wildcats have not just kept their season going but they will get the chance to play for a second straight section championship next weekend.
The No. 2 seeds in the bracket will travel to Hayward High School for a Saturday night showdown against No. 1 Moreau Catholic in the championship game.
Check out some of Saturday’s highlights above, including all five Tanner Pidgeon touchdown runs.
The highlights also include a two-point conversion pass to Jonah Anderson, Garyn McClurg’s TD run and a pair of late interceptions by Ferndale’s Anthony Kasso and Braeden Rice.
The playoff win was the seventh straight for the Wildcats, dating back to last year’s big playoff run to the state championship.
