Two Cal Poly Humboldt volleyball players have received all-conference recognition after impressive seasons for both.
The All-California Collegiate Athletic Conference teams were announced on Wednesday, with Awelina Fakalata included on the conference second team and teammate Kyra Slavik receiving an honorable mention.
This is the second straight year Fakalata was included on the all-CCAA second team.
The Sacramento native capped off an impressive two-year career at Cal Poly Humboldt by surpassing the 700-kill mark in her final match, bringing her total to 709 kills as a Lumberjack.
Across her collegiate career, which included time at American River College, Fakalata amassed 1,735 total kills.
This achievement ranks her third all-time in kills for Humboldt during the 25-point scoring era and second all-time in single-season kills with 386 this season.
Her dynamic play and leadership cemented her as one of the program’s most impactful players.
Slavik, who orchestrated the Lumberjack offense as the team’s setter, was also celebrated for her contributions.
The Illinois native concluded her career just shy of 1,300 assists (1,280), making her the all-time assist leader in Humboldt’s 25-point era.
Additionally, Slavik’s 648 assists this season rank her second all-time in single-season assists, showcasing her consistency and skill in guiding the team’s attack.
The Jacks recently finished the season with an overall record of 8-18, going 4-14 in conference play.
