The Eureka Loggers continue to show why they will be one of the teams to beat in this year’s
Pacific League with another impressive win on Friday night.
The Eureka girls, who open league play at Del Norte on Thursday, welcomed Fort Bragg to Jay Willard Gymnasium and won in straight sets, 25-17, 25-20, 25-17.
Senior Alena Battle continued to impress for the home team and appears poised to close out her high school career strong.
Battle finished with 10 kills, six blocks and three aces.
But the Loggers had to overcome some adversity on the way to the win.
“We had a lot of players out this week due to being sick, so we are really happy to see the players come together, play new positions and get the win tonight,” Eureka head coach Stephanie Napoleon said afterwards.
Tiarah Maualuga also impressed for the home team, finishing with 10 kills, five digs and two aces, as did Savanhie Phansavang, who stepped in as libero and had 15 digs and four aces.
Ramon Dusel added 15 assists, four digs and three aces.
Both Eureka and Fort Bragg are back in action at the Arcata Tournament on Saturday.
“We appreciate Fort Bragg playing us tonight and wish them luck in the Arcata tournament,” Napoleon said.
