Alder Grove’s Ocean Goodrich placed first at Friday’s Coast League Cross Country Championships, outpacing the field by over a minute and a half.

The championships were held at College of the Redwoods and Goodrich crossed the finish line in a time of 9 minutes, 20 seconds.

Taiyo Shofner of Laurel Tree won a tight battle for second place with a time of 10:54, with Redwood Coast Montessori’s Flynt Ryno-Moore just two seconds back in third in a time of 10:56.

Redwood Coast Montessori took the team victory with five runners in the top nine.

The school scored 13 points to edge Laurel Tree (15 points), with Goodrich and Alder Grove in third with 25 points.

Redwood Coast Montessori’s Ben Gerving placed fourth followed by Laurel Treee’s Bodhi Ashley in fifth.

Redwood Coast Montessori’s Shasta Ruby Soto and Liam Rose placed sixth and seventh, respectively.
