
Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics
The Cal Poly Humboldt’s women’s cross country team wrapped up the CCAA Championships with standout freshman Artana Nice claiming all-conference honors and being named the CCAA Freshman of the Year.
The Eugene, Ore., native placed 11th overall in the women’s 6K race in Fresno on Friday.
Nice’s remarkable debut season saw her cross the finish line in a time of 21 minutes, 47 seconds.
As a team, the Humboldt women scored 215 points and placed ninth overall among a competitive field of eleven teams.
The meet saw perennial powerhouse Chico State clinch the championship title with 43 points, followed closely by Stanislaus State and Cal Poly Pomona.
Humboldt’s finish reflected steady progress throughout the season, bolstered by Nice’s consistent front-running performances.
Alexa Amador was the second best Humboldt runner on the day and finished 55th.
Former Eureka Logger Charlotte Leonard also competed for the Jacks and placed 80th.
