Loggers make it two straight wins, celebrate their senior leaders

The 2024 league title may be out of reach for the Eureka boys soccer team, but the Loggers are building some momentum ahead of the North Coast Section playoffs.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Loggers posted their second straight league win, topping South Fork 6-1 at Washington Field.

And it was a perfect way to recognize the team’s seniors on senior day.

“They lead for us day in and day out,” head coach Tommy Learmouth said of the seniors. “They bring effort and energy and show what it means to play with passion and intensity.”

The class of seniors includes Lucas Cipriani, Jose Herrera-Rodriguez, Patrick Abddeer, Luis Rodriguez, Will Mooney, Makai Dennon and Trent Gerber.

Three of the seniors got on the scoresheet in Tuesday’s win, with Mooney, Rodriguez and Herrera-Rodriguez each finding the back of the net.

The impressive Isaiah Herbst added two goals in the win, with Junior Pinto rounding out the goalscorers.

The victory followed an impressive 2-1 win over Arcata at the weekend.

“We built on the success from the weekend and I’m proud of the performance of the team,” Learmouth said.

With the win, the Loggers improved to 5-4-2 in the H-DNL.

They close out league play at Fortuna on Saturday.

The NCS playoffs begin in two weeks.
