The Eureka Loggers kept pressure on the league leaders with a straight-sets win over McKinleyville on Thursday night.

The Eureka girls won 25-12, 25-10, 25-17 and improved to 3-3 in the Big 5 with two matches remaining.

It was also Pink Out night for the team in honor of breast cancer awareness month and the players raised money to be donated to California Cancer Crushers through a bake sale and donations from fans.

“The generosity of our fans, who came, donated and helped support a great cause, was amazing,” Eureka head coach Stephanie Napoleon said.

The Loggers were shorthanded for the match and had to switch some things around, but the players rose to the challenge.

“We had a few players out tonight, so we had a lot of players play different positions and really step up,” Napoleon said. “I’m proud of them.”

Tiara Maualuga continued to impress for the home team and finished with nine kills, a block, six digs and three aces, while Samara Gaither also impressed and finished eight kills, eight assists and two blocks.

Macy Perkins added four kills and three aces, while Baylie Battle had eight assists and three aces.

The Eureka JVs also won their matchup in two sets.
