The Fortuna Huskies suffered their second straight loss in football with a disappointing performance at University Prep on Friday night.
The Huskies were unable to bounce back from last week’s Milk Can defeat and lost 42-16.
With the loss, they dropped to 2-3 on the season.
“It was not the best outing for the Huskies,” head coach Mike Benbow said. “University Prep is a very good football team and they kind of dominated us up front on both sides of the ball.”
Fortuna had some success moving the ball on the ground, but fumbles and interceptions killed several promising possessions.
The home team, on the other hand, took advantage of their opportunities and moved the ball efficiently with a relentless ground attack mixed in with some opportunistic passes that caught Husky defenders in the wrong coverage.
Kavi Bolden and Mako Limon each scored rushing touchdowns in the loss and combined for 112 rushing yards on only nine carries.
Both juniors are enjoying big seasons for the team.

Bolden again showcased his combination of speed and strength with a 41-yard TD run, while Limon found the end zone on a five-yard run after an impressive 55-yard gain had set up the score.
Tim Still added 25 yards rushing on two carries and Lolo Payne finished with 23 yards on three carries.
Fortuna quarterback Chandler Crenshaw completed 5 of 11 passes for 64 yards but threw two interceptions.
Senior Jake Houseworth impressed for the visitors as he continues his comeback from an early-season injury.
“Jake played pretty darn well,” Benbow said of Houseworth, who had three receptions for 53 yards.
Things won’t get any easier for the Huskies next week as they get set to play at St. Vincent de Paul on Saturday.
“We’ve got to go back to the drawing board and work hard and prepare to do the best we can next week,” Benbow said.
The Fortuna JVs won their game and improved to 5-0 on the season.
