The H-DNL girls golf season officially got under way on Thursday with a two-person scramble event at Beau Pre Golf Course in McKinleyville.

And it was a good start for the defending league champion Arcata Tigers.

Arcata’s Madyson Nelson and Lily Cunningham posted the low score of the day to beat out 13 other pairings.

Nelson and Cunningham shot an 88 to claim a three-stroke win.

The Tigers also had the second best duo of the day, with Lucia Hernandez and Toni Diaz combining to shoot a 91.

The third best score of the day went to the Del Norte pairing of Charley Tygart and Bria Larson, who shot a 99.
