A pair of former Eureka Loggers combined for five hits on Wednesday night as the Humboldt Crabs secured a two-game series sweep of the Athletic Edge Express at the Arcata Ball Park.

One day after beating the Edge Express 7-4 in the series opener, the Crabs overcame a pair of early deficits to win 9-3 on Wednesday.

Keenan Morris, who has enjoyed a good summer playing for the longtime local club, led a 14-hit team performance at the plate.

The 2021 Eureka High graduate finished 3-for-5 with a home run, a double, three RBIs and two runs.

The home run, which helped key a five-run seventh inning, was his third of the summer.

Equally impressive, Rogan Bode got his first hits with the Crabs after just recently joining the team fort the stretch run.

The 2023 Eureka High graduate finished 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored.

Bode, who is playing on this year’s team with his older brother Hayden, also had three stolen bases, while Morris had one.

The impressive duo are among five former Loggers on this year’s Crabs roster, along with Hayden Bode, Parker Rodgers and Myles Standish.

The visitors, who dropped to 2-10 on the season, caused the Crabs some problems early on and led by a run on two occasions in the opening three innings.

However, the home team scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to take a lead they would not relinquish.
