The District 26 Little League All-Star tournaments are heating up, with a true championship showdown set for Wednesday night.

On Tuesday night at Conroy Field in Fortuna, the Redwood Empire 11U All-Stars won a thriller in extra innings, handing the Eel River All-Stars their first tournament loss.

A tight game between these two rivals wasn’t decided until the ninth inning, with RELL pulling out a 1-0 win to keep their season going.

Oliver Yoder brought in Parker Morgan for the walk-off winning run.

The two teams will face off a second time in a true championship showdown on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.

The three-team tourney got under way on Saturday.

Also in action this week, the District 26 10U all-star tournament is being played at Candy Stick Park in Willow Creek and also got under way on Saturday.

The six-team tournament is now down to three teams.

On Tuesday night, the Eel River All-Stars won their third straight game to remain undefeated, handing the McKinleyville players their first loss by a score of 8-5.

McKinleyville will now face off against Redwood Empire in an elimination game on Wednesday night.

This will be the second tournament meeting between the two rivals, with McKinleyville pulling out a victory over RELL on opening day.

Since that game, RELL has battled back to win two straight elimination games against Klamath Trinity and Southern Humboldt to set up the big showdown on Wednesday.

The winner of Wednesday’s game will play Eel River in the championship round on Thursday.

A win in that game for Eel River would crown them district champions.

A loss, however, would set up a true championship showdown on Friday night.

The District 26 12U All-Star tournament gets under way on Saturday and will be hosted by Southern Humboldt.
