By Ray Hamill — The Humboldt Crabs will play a rare Saturday afternoon game this weekend.

The local club opened a three-game series against the Novato Knicks on Friday night and will also play them on Sunday.

But instead of playing on Saturday night, the second game of the series will take place at 2:30 p.m. because of Oyster Fest.

Sundays’ game is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

The Crabs carried a four-game winning streak in to Friday’s series opener and are 7-2 on the season.

All of the Crabs games are streamed live on the club’s YouTube page and broadcast live on local ESPN affiliate KATA 1340 AM and 107.3 FM.

After the weekend series, the Crabs will hit the road for six games next week as they get set to open the Pacific Empire League.

The Crabs will play the Lincoln Potters on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, before heading to Healdsburg to play the Prune Packers next weekend.

This will be the first time the Crabs have played in a conference since the 2013 season, when they competed in the Far West League.

The Pacific Empire League also includes the Medford Rogues, the Solano Mudcats and the West Coast Kings.
