VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS — Plenty of excitement at H-DNL championships

By Ray Hamill — The rain and wet conditions didn’t seem to dampen too many spirits at Saturday’s H-DNL track and field championships.

The best athletes in league gathered at McKinleyville High School for the final meet of the H-DNL season and three was plenty of excitement and close finishes.

When all was said and done, the Del Norte boys and Eureka girls walked away as champions, with several individuals taking home multiple wins.

That group included Del Norte sophomore Deken Hanks, who successfully defended both his 100 meter and 200m league titles on his way to four wins in four events on the day.

Check out our video highlights above, including both of Hanks’ wins in the sprints.

We also have highlights of the girls 100m, which was one of the closest events of the day and was won by Fortuna senior Allie Cox.

In addition we have the final of the girls 800m, which was won by Arcata freshman Bella DeCarli, and the boys 800m, as well as both the boys and girls 300m hurdles finals and the girls 200m.

The top athletes in the H-DNL will now turn their attention to this week’s North Coast Section championships, before next week’s NCS Meet of Champions.
