The College of the Redwoods women closed out their pre-conference schedule with an impressive come-from-behind win over Chabot College in basketball on Monday.
The host Corsairs trailed for much of the night but rallied in the fourth quarter to win 62-57.
The victory was the team’s fourth in six games and will give the Corsairs some much-needed momentum heading into the weekend conference opener at home to Butte.
Lily Hoban scored a team-high 16 points in the win, while teammate Alia Prentiss added 13 points.
Olivia Railsback and Ellie Pesch each added eight points, Ronee Norwood finished with seven points, Kyla Albee had six points and Lily Shelton had four.
The visitors started the stronger of the two teams and led by nine points after the opening quarter.
The Corsairs, however, settled into the game and began to gradually cut into the deficit, pulling to within five points at halftime and to within four after three quarters.
That would set up a big finish for the CR women, who outscored Chabot 22-13 in the fourth quarter to pull out the come-from-behind victory.
With the win the Corsairs improved to 6-11 on the season.
Chabot, which is the No. 13 ranked team in Northern California, dropped to 12-6.
The Redwoods players will now turn their attention to the Golden Valley Conference which tips of this weekend.
The Corsairs open at home against Butte on Saturday, with the women playing at 1 p.m. and the men at 3.
