The Corsairs suffered their second straight loss at the Santa Rosa men’s basketball tournament on Saturday, falling to the host school 97-86.
Santa Rosa led 54-51 at halftime and began to pull away after the interval.
With the loss, the Corsairs dropped to 9-7.
“The wheels completely came off defensively in that second half, but it must be said Santa Rosa played really well tonight,” CR head coach Ryan Bisio said. “Their adjustments were more precise and physically they seemed to be playing at a different speed from us.”
Kai Purcall scored a team-high 25 points for CR, while teammate Mason Mottashed finished with 15 points.
Trey Neff added 14 points, while Ty Neff and Jett Cheong each had 12 points.
CR hit 17 3-pointers in what was their third game in three days.
“In truth we simply ran out of gas,” said Bisio, whose team was missing some players through injury. “Three straight high-intensity games while playing shorthanded took its took. It’s disappointing but completely understandable.
“It doesn’t get any easier for us though. We’ve got to get healthy and keep honing in on our defensive stability.
“Luckily for us our offense took a big step forward over the weekend.”
