VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS — Local players make big plays for CR

By Ray Hamill — A pair of former H-DNL players accounted for all three College of the Redwoods touchdowns in Saturday’s loss to West Hills Coalinga, and all three came on exciting plays.

Hoopa’s Carlos Aguilar scored a pair of first-half TDs as the Corsairs overcame an early deficit to take a 14-7 lead.

And later in the game, former Eureka Logger Drew Jensen recovered a blocked punt at the West Hills two-yard line before running in for a TD.

Unfortunately it wasn’t enough for the Corsairs, who suffered their first loss of the season by a score of 27-21.

CR is now 2-1.

It wasn’t all bad news for the Corsairs, whose three TDs came on big plays.

The first was came on a 78-yard passing play from quarterback Max Hough to Aguilar, who caught the ball near midfield and out-ran the West Hills defense to the end zone.

Aguilar’s second TD came on a fumble recovery, when teammate Levi Cox-Cooley lost the ball as he was tackled from behind after a big gain. Aguilar scooped up the ball and ran in 30 yards for a TD.
