Two Feathers NAFS to host youth soccer camp this weekend

By Ray Hamill — There are a handful of spots still available for this weekend’s soccer camp at Hiller Park in McKinleyville, which is being hosted by the the Two Feathers Native American Family Services in partnership with Global Soccer Heroes.

The two-day camp is free of charge and will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday and Sunday.

Players aged 8-13 can register through the QR code above, but there are only a few spots still available so anyone interested should act quickly.

According to Project Manager Keoki Burbank, the Two Feathers NAFS wants to put on more youth sports camps as a way to enhance the mental health of Native American youth.

“It’s something we want to be more involved with,” said Burbank, who added “we’re really trying to get native youth to come out and attend.”

Global Soccer Heroes features coaches from around the world.

“They have a lot of experience working with youth and teaching high level soccer,” Burbank said.

  1. IDK, maybe head out to Hupa and encourage the High School to form a female soccer team, male too if football does not deplete athletes…

…maybe volleyballers deplete female athletes in the fall too, idk…

…but go out to near where the focus should be, not where opportunity has already existed for decades…

    Nothingburger really…
