The Humboldt Crabs continued to roll with a two-game midweek sweep of the California Tigers at the Arcata Ball Park this week, stretching their winning streak to nine straight.
The Crabs beat the Tigers 5-1 on Tuesday and 3-1 on Wednesday, improving to 28-6 on the season.
They managed just one hit in Tuesday’s win, a two-RBI single by Braden Frank that helped key a five-run sixth inning.
They also scored runs in that inning on a Cameron Saso sac fly and a pair of errors, overturning an early one-run deficit.
Gabe Tanner got his sixth win of the season on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing just one run on one hit and three walks while striking out seven.
Wednesday’s game was a low scoring affair, with the Crabs taking a two-run lead in the bottom of the fifth and adding an insurance run in the seventh.
Wyatt Reginatto led a seven-hit team performance with two hits, while Merek Sears threw six strong innings for the win on the hill.
Sears allowed just one earned run on four hits and two walks and struck out four.
Brady Chavez pitched one inning for his team-leading fourth save of the summer.
Former Eureka Loggers Kennan Morris and Parker Rodgers both played for the Tigers.
Morris was 1-for–4 with a double in Wednesday’s loss, which was one of just three hits for the visitors.
The Crabs will now a three-game series against the Menlo Park Legends this weekend, with game one set for Friday night at 7 p.m.
