Local racing fans will be treated to a night of racing and fireworks at the Redwood Acres Raceway on Saturday.
After hosting the annual Firecracker 100 for the late models, which is one of the most anticipated races of the season, the local track will cap a busy night of action with their annual fireworks display.
The 100-lap main event for the late models will pay $2000 to the winner, with current division leader Brandon Barnwell looking to secure the biggest victory of his career.
David Miller and Brandon White have each enjoyed plenty of success in the annual race.
White won the first four Firecracker 100s between 2015 and 2018, with Miller taking the checkered flag in each of the past two summers.
Also in action on Saturday, the Upstate Bomber Series will be racing at the Acres for the first time in 2023.
Their first race of the season took place at Ukiah Speedway in mid-June with Dustin Kuhl winning.
The local top bomber drivers include Doug Way, Tyler Krupa and Jordan Krupa, each of whom will be looking to upset the touring series visitors and take the $1,000 winner’s purse.
This will be the first of two Upstate Bombers races at RAR this season.
Local Legends and mini stocks will also be racing on Saturday with Harper Motors presenting the action-packed evening.
The weekend Legends races should also be highly competitive, particularly between the top three in the points standings.
Tyler Krupa leads Tyler Avelar and Landon Green by eight and nine points, respectively.
In the mini stocks, meanwhile, the dominating Gary Klinetobe will be hoping to pad his points lead.
Tickets for Saturday night’s races can be purchased at Automasters in Eureka, Don’s Rent-All in Eureka, McKinleyville Barbershop and JC Auto in Fortuna.
Tickets can also be purchased on RacinTheAcres.com or at the gate on race day. Fans unable to attend this weekend’s races in person cam stream the action live at RacinTheAcres.tv and SpeedSport.tv.
An open practice is scheduled for Friday from 1 to 6 p.m.
