Former St. Bernard’s Crusader Nick Dugan is headed to the College World Series in his first year playing at the collegiate level.
Dugan and the Stanford Cardinal stamped their ticket in dramatic fashion with a 7-6 walk-off win over Texas on Monday.
The freshman pitcher threw 3.2 innings in the win and was one of six Stanford pitchers to feature.
Dugan allowed three earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out two.
The 2022 SB graduate has impressed in the playoffs after an up-and-down freshman campaign and appears to be finding his groove at an opportune time.
The previous weekend he got his first college win and first college save on the same day in elimination playoff games against Cal State Fullerton and Texas A&M.
With two outs and the game tied 6-6 in the bottom of the ninth inning on Monday, Dugan’s teammate Drew Bowser drove in the winning run to seal the deal for the Cardinal.
This marks the third straight year Stanford has made it to the CWS.
The Cardinal are now 44-18 and will open the CWS against Wake Forest on Saturday at 11 a.m.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN.
