Fennell leads the way as Huskies top the Crusaders

The Fortuna Huskies improved to 2-0 with a comfortable 18-2 win over St. Bernard’s in softball on Wednesday night.

Fortuna senior Kylee Fennell was instrumental in the win, pitching a complete-game five innings for the victory in the circle and also leading the way at the plate.

Fennell allowed five hits and two walks, while striking out seven.

At the plate, she finished 4-for-5 with three doubles and four RBIs.

Faith Helms also had a big game in the win and finished 3-for-4 with a triple, a double and an RBI, while teammate Libby Johnston finished 2-for-4 and drove in four runs.

Zoe Dewberry also was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.

Ella Jimenez led the Crusaders at the plate with two hits, including a triple, and also drove in a run.

The game was the season opener for the St. Bernard’s girls.
