By Ray Hamill — The two local high school state playoff basketball games scheduled for Tuesday night will go ahead as planned.
There was some concern that the weather and travel restrictions might force a postponement for one or both games, but as of late Tuesday afternoon both games are still on.
The McKinleyville girls will host Lassen and the Arcata girls will host Summit Shasta, with tip off set for 7 p.m. at each venue.
Both local teams will be hoping for a big turnout and both will be hoping the home crowd can spark them to victory.
The Panthers, who are 17-10, were placed in the Division-3 bracket and received the No. 6 seed, while Lassen is seeded No. 11.
McKinleyville High School announced on Monday night that any Mack students who show up before tip off wearing red and black will be admitted free thanks to the “generously of Panther Partners.”
The Tigers, who are 14-12, are in the Division-4 bracket and seeded No. 2, while Summit Shasta is No. 15.
One other local team also qualified for the NorCal tournament.
The Ferndale girls are seeded No. 2 in the Division-6 bracket and will open on Wednesday night at home to No. 7 Redding Christian.
The Division-6 bracket features just eight teams.
Wednesday’s game is set for 7 p.m.
