By Ray Hamill — It was a tale of two halves at Jay Willard Gymnasium on Friday night, as the Eureka girls wore down St. Patrick-St. Vincent in the quarterfinals of the Division-3 North Coast Section basketball quarterfinals.
The Loggers began to pull away late in the third quarter and held on late for a 69-58 win.
Check out our second-half highlights above.
The Loggers started the stronger of the two teams and led by 12 early in the second quarter, but the visitors went on an 18-3 run to take a slender lead heading into halftime.
The lead changed hands seven times in the opening four-and-a-half minutes of the third quarter, but the home team began to settle into the game and began to pull away late in the period.
“What a game,” Eureka head coach Cliff Napoleon said. “It was a rollercoaster of a game. That first half we were a little jumbled. We were turning the ball over left and right. In the second half we calmed down.”
