The Loggers stretched their winning streak to seven straight with a nice road win at Ukiah on Saturday night.
The Eureka girls defeated the Division-2 Wildcats by a score of 56-35 and improved to 18-4 on the season.
Isis Poteet led a balanced offensive performance by the visitors and scored a team-high 12 points, while Amaya Gee finished with 10 points.
The Loggers took control of the game early and led 29-15 at halftime.
Claire Maples also had a good game for Eureka and finished with nine points, while both Moriah Bowles and Mariah Napoleon each chipped in seven points.
The Wildcats, who are ranked No. 9 in Division 2 in the North Coast Section, according to MaxPreps, dropped to 12-9.
The Eureka girls will return to league play this week, when they host Del Norte on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
The Loggers lead the Big 5 with a perfect 4-0 record halfway through the schedule, while Del Norte is tied with McKinleyville for second in the standings with identical 3-2 league records.
If McKinleyville should lose to Fortuna on Wednesday and the Eureka girls get the better of Del Norte, then the Loggers would be crowned at least co-champs of the Big 5 with three games remaining.
A busy week for the Loggers continues on Friday when they host Fortuna, before St. Bernard’s makes the short trip across town for a highly-anticipated showdown between the top-two ranked teams in the H-DNL on Saturday at 6 p.m.
