A young Fortuna wrestling team is quickly maturing.
The Huskies had eight top-five finishers at the Eureka North Coast Classic on Saturday, beating out 24 other boys teams for the tournament championship.
At 120 pounds, Mason Evanow was the lone first-place finisher for the Fortuna boys, while Lonna Torrez and Chloe Cox each also took him an individual title for the Fortuna girls.
Several other Huskies grapplers also impressed at the one-day event, which featured competitors from most of the H-DNL schools, as well as several other schools.
Cayden Spiers placed second at 106 pounds, while teammate Jacob August was also a runner-up at 132.
Jordan Jacobs, (106) and Elias Golder (113) each also impressed and placed third in their respective brackets, while Soren Cheng (120), Hunter Hatton (138) and Mako Limon (145) all placed third.
In addition to Torrez and Cox, Lindsey Bibby also had a god tournament for the Fortuna girls and placed second in her bracket.
In the JV boys tournament, Justin Heavilin placed first for Fortuna at 172.
The Huskies will celebrate senior night on Tuesday before a home dual meet against both Del Norte and Ferndale.
