Cal Poly Humboldt Athletics – Bryce Mitchell
By Ray Hamill — Both Cal Poly Humboldt basketball teams will head into the Christmas break on a bit of a roll, with each riding a two-game winning streak.
The Jacks won’t play again until the new year, when the two teams travel to Sonoma State for a New Year’s Day doubleheader against the Seawolves.
The men’s team has been competitive so far in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and is 4-1 in the standings, with the Jacks’ only loss coming in a thrilling overtime game against Chico State earlier this month.
The Humboldt men have since beaten Stanislaus State and Western Oregon but have not played since Dec. 13 and will go 18 days between games.
They are 6-5 overall.
The Cal Poly women, meanwhile, also have won two straight, with back-to-back victories over Stanislaus State and Northwest Nazarene.
The Jacks are 5-4 overall and 3-2 in conference.
