The McKinleyville Panthers are in action at the Sac Adventist tournament in boys basketball this week, splitting a pair of games on Monday and Tuesday.
The Panthers opened with a 57-43 win over Colfax, before falling to El Dorado by a score of 69-38 in their second game.
The Mack boys are now 9-3 on the season.
Sharpshooting senior Cody Whitmer led the team offensively in both games, scoring 12 points against Colfax and 15 against El Dorado.
Whitmer hit five 3-pointers in Tuesday’s game, as the Panthers matched the El Dorado offense early and trailed by just three at halftime,
A poor shooting performance in the second half, however, proved costly against the Placerville school.
Jack Clancy also had a good game on Tuesday and finished with 10 points, while Payton Harbin added nine points.
JT Nicholls also impressed with nine points against Colfax as he continues to play a growing role offensively for the team, while Jordan Brown finished with eight points and Clancy and Flynn Creighton each chipped in six.
