
The Fortuna Huskies will carry some momentum into this week’s McKinleyville tournament in girls basketball after posting a second straight win on Tuesday night.
The Huskies defeated the Hoopa girls 61-52 at Fortuna, avenging an earlier loss to the Warriors at the Arcata tournament.
Grace Scilacci was instrumental in the win and finished with a double-double, scoring a team-high 19 points and pulling down 13 rebounds.
Teammate Malessa Miles added 13 points.
The Huskies, who improved to 4-5 on the season, will open the Mack tournament against Eureka at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night.
Tatianna Colegrove scored a game-high 21 points for Hoopa, while teammate Renee Doolittle finished with 10 points.
The Hoopa girls dropped to 1-7, with five of their losses in the early season coming against Big 5 schools.
The Warriors play Round valley on Thursday at 7 p.m.
