Rivals come to town as Cal Poly men look to extend fast start in CCAA

The Cal Poly Humboldt men will try to extend their unbeaten start to conference when they host their biggest rivals in a basketball doubleheader on Thursday night.

The Cal Poly men take on Chico State at Lumberjack Arena at 7:30 p.m., with the schools’ women’s teams playing at 5:30 p.m.

The Humboldt men are off to a 3-0 start in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and sit atop the standings, most recently beating both Cal State Dominguez Hills and Cal State East Bay on the road.

The Jacks edged Dominguez Hills 71-69 on Thursday, before winning 84-71 at Cal State East Bay on Saturday.

They are now 4-4 on the season.

The Cal Poly women, meanwhile, are 3-3 on the season (2-1 in the CCAA) after splitting their games at Dominguez Hills and East Bay.

The Jacks bounced back from a 68-51 loss on Thursday with a 59-54 win on Saturday.

The Chico State men are 2-1 in conference and 3-4 overall, while the women are 2-1 and 5-3.
