The Ferndale Wildcats continued to play strong defense on the way to a comfortable 76-45 win over Potter Valley in boys basketball on Monday night.
The Ferndale boys held the Bearcats to just 12 first-half points and led by 33 at the break, allowing head coach Tristan Waters to give his bench players plenty of minutes in the second half.
“It’s good to see the whole team contributing,” the head coach said.
Jack Westfall and Thomas Fergison each also made some big shots on their way to 12 points apiece, while Kannon Christiansen added 10 points and Jonah Anderson finished with nine.
“Kannon was holding down the paint as he usually does,” Waters said. “I’m really proud of Jonah for going out there and just playing ball.”
With the win, which was their fourth straight, the Cats improved to 4-1 on the new season.
Next up, they travel for the Trinity tournament, opening on Thursday against Hayfork.
