Corsairs, Tigers to host annual Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving

The 20th annual Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving, with the 5K race getting under way at 9 a.m.

The popular community event will be co-sponsored this year by College of the Redwoods and Arcata High and will begin at the Old Town Gazebo in Eureka.

“This run has a great tradition in our community and is a fun event for families and people of all ages,” CR Athletics Director Bob Brown said. “CR athletics and specifically our cross country team are proud to be co-hosting with the Arcata High program and coach James Washington.”

The race route starts at the Old Town Gazebo and heads up Second Street to the Carson Mansion then loops over to Waterfront Drive towards the Samoa Bridge turn-around and back down the waterfront to Commercial Street before winding over to Second Street and back to the finish line at F Street.

Runners do two loops.

Costumes are encouraged and some lucky participants will win a pie.

All proceeds help support both the Arcata High and College of the Redwoods cross country Programs.

Registration is required before the race and starts at 7 a.m.

Registration on race day is $15, while early registration is $12.
