CR Athletics – Ty Neff, Jon Nchekwube and Trey Neff
With six wins in just nine days, the College of the Redwoods men are off to their best start ever on the basketball court.
On Saturday, the Corsairs improved to 6-0 with a fifth road victory, winning 94-65 at Solano.
Jon Nchekwube dominated in the paint once again, finishing with 25 points and 27 rebounds, while freshman guard Trey Neff continued his impressive start to the season with 20 points.
“Jon closed out the weekend for us in rare fashion,” head coach Ryan Bisio said. “Basically our best offense today was to shoot it and let Jon go get it. He is off to a blistering start this year and he just keeps getting better.”
The team’s record-setting start also includes victories over a pair of top-20 NorCal teams, No. 5 Santa Rosa and No. 19 Mendocino.
“For our program to win six games in nine days, it shows the depth, commitment and toughness of our players,” Bisio said. “They paced themselves with great focus and attention to detail.”
Next up, the Corsairs will play at the Mendocino tournament, opening against Sacramento City on Thursday at 2 p.m.
