The South Fork Cubs booked themselves a place in next week’s North Coast Section semifinals with a 42-0 win at Tomales in the eight-man bracket on Friday night.
The South Fork players came out fired up and Justin Freitas set the tone on the opening play of the game when he ran for a 47-yard touchdown.
Quarterback Shevy Bero-Vanmeter threw for three touchdowns in the win, including two to Wesley Way.
“Overall, we came out from the get-go and kept the pedal to the metal,” head coach Karl Terrell said.
Way scored three TDs, including one on the ground, and finished with 112 yards receiving on three catches.
Bero-Vanmeter threw for 120 yards and also had 74 yards rushing on five carries, while John Harding also had a TD reception.
The Cubs led 22-0 at halftime and continued to pull away after the interval.
Freitas also had a big impact on the defensive side of the ball and finished with 13 tackles, while Jasper Wilke added 10 tackles and a sack and Cannon Baker had nine tackles.
Bero-Vanmeter also had eight tackles, while Harding finished with seven tackles and two sacks.
The No. 3 seeded Cubs will play either No. 2 Branson our No. 7 Roseland University prep in the semifinals.
