By Ray Hamill — A total of 12 H-DNL teams have been included in the North Coast Section soccer playoff brackets, which were announced on Sunday.
The playoffs kick off on Wednesday, but most of the local teams have opening-round byes and will play in the quarterfinal rounds on Friday and Saturday.
The Eureka girls are seeded No. 1 in the Division-1 bracket and will play either No. 9 Del Norte or No. 8 Fort Bragg in their quarterfinal.
The Warriors play at Fort Bragg on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the only opening-round game in the bracket.
Three other Big 4 teams are included in the same bracket and all have opening round byes.
In the quarterfinals, No. 3 Arcata will play No. 6 Clear Lake, No. 5 McKinleyville will play No. 4 Middletown and No. 7 Fortuna will play No. 2 Credo.
Dates and times have yet to be finalized for those games.
Two Little 4 teams made the four-team Division-3 field and both will open on Wednesday.
Fresh off a league championship, No. 2 St. Bernard’s will host No. 3 Mendocino at 3:30 p.m., while No. 4 Ferndale will play at No. 1 Upper Lake at 7 p.m.
Five local boys teams also qualified, two of which kick off on Wednesday.
In Division 2, No. 11 South Fork will play at No. 6 Bentley at 3:30 p.m., while in Division 1, No. 7 Del Norte will host No. 10 Lower Lake, also at 3:30 p.m.
The winner of the latter will play at No. 2 Arcata in the quarterfinals.
Also in Division 1, Eureka received the No. 4 seed and will play No. 5 Fortuna in the quarterfinals after each also received an opening-round bye.
As expected, Head-Royce received the No. 1 seed in Division 1.
