An impressive season for College of the Redwoods cross country continued on Friday, as the women’s team swept the top three spots on the way to a comfortable team victory at the Golden Valley Conference championships.

Competing at Butte, the record-setting Hannah Hartwell placed first overall and finished the three-mile course in a time of 21 minutes 18.6 seconds.

Chloe Allen was seventh overall and Deborah Wells eighth, giving CR five of the top eight finishers and showcasing their team depth.

The CR women scored 21 team points, well ahead of second-placed Butte with 34.

The CR men, meanwhile, scored 41 points and  placed second to Butte (24).

CR’s Sean Dugdale was third overall in a time of 22:52.5, with teammate Kyle Byrne fifth, Thomas Becannon seventh and Henry Lamb eighth.

Both the women’s and men’s teams will now turn their attention to the NorCal Championships, which they will host in Fortuna a week from Saturday (Nov. 5).
