The league champion led the way for the H-DNL with a strong showing at the North Coast Section Division-2 Girls Golf Championships on Monday.
Competing at the Rooster Run Golf Club in Petaluma, McKinleyville senior Sofie Sundberg shot a 92 to cap a memorable high school career.
Sundberg is a two-time H-DNL champion.
Nine other H-DNL girls made the trip, including five Arcata Tigers, who won this year’s H-DNL team championship.
Senior Sagen Sarchett led the way for Arcata with a round of 100, which was the the second best local round of the day.
Sarchett only took up golf as a junior, but has had an immediate impact over the past two seasons and closed out her senior year with a second-placed finish in league.
Teammates Avery Meadows (110), Iris Coonrod (113), Madyson Nelson (113) and Morgan Ford (114) each also competed on Monday.
Eureka’s Ileah Brannon had the third best local round of the day and shot a 104, while St. Bernard’s Hannah Finck was next best with a 109.
Rounding out the H-DNL contingent, St. Bernard’s Allyson Hagler shot a 116 and Eureka’s Mia Lopez shot a 121.
Alyssa Lim of James Logan had the best overall score of the day with a round of 72, while Cardinal Newman took the team title with a score of 321.
The Arcata girls shot a 436.
The top-18 golfers on the day, with rounds of 82 or better, qualified for next week’s NCS Division-1 championships.
