McKinleyville junior Damian Dinan continued to set the pace in H-DNL cross country at Fortuna on Wednesday, placing first for the third straight week.
And the Panthers standout appears to be getting stronger.
Dinan, whose winning margin has grown each week, finished the 5K course in a time of 18 minutes, 8 seconds, which was 1:19 better than the field.
McKinleyville’s Jace Thomson (19:50) and Arcata’s Levi Browne (19:57) and Nathan Whitney (20:04).
The Tigers placed seven runners in the top 12 to comfortably take the team win.
Arcata scored 26 points, followed by Eureka (55) and McKinleyville (76).
Kai Frimodig (Arcata), Daniel Shaver (Eureka), Kaelan Docherty (Eureka) Tobias Sánchez (Arcata), and Ocean Walker (Arcata) rotunded out the top 10 individual finishers.
In the girls race, Fortuna’s Ella Owsley won for the second straight week, barely edging Fortuna’s Charlotte Leonard by just one second.
Owsley finished in a time of 21:46, with Leonard placing second for the third straight week in a time of 21:47.
The Arcata girls also placed first in the team event with 22 points, followed by Eureka with 35.
Sequoia Ashby (Eureka), Lillian Cunningham (Arcata), Alauna Thompson (Arcata), Miriam Mende (Eureka) and Gabby Crosswhite (Fortuna) rounded out the top 10.
Northcoast Prep will host the next league event next Wednesday.
