LITTLE 4 VOLLEYBALL — St. Bernard’s, Hoopa both win

Submitted photo – The St. Bernard’s girls got a key league win on Tuesday just a few days after competing at the Brookings tournament, where they went 2-2.

The Little 4 frontrunners both kept rolling with key wins on Tuesday night.

League leaders St. Bernard’s defeated Ferndale in three sets to go to 5-0 in the Little 4, while Hoopa topped South Fork in straight sets to go to 3-1 with a game in hand.

Madelyn Shanahan continued to play at an MVP level for the Crusaders and finished with a team-high 12 kills, while Kodi Meyer also had a good game and finished with 26 assists.

Rihanna Fontenot added four kills, Ella Jimenez had six aces and Marce Davilla four aces.

The Crusaders are now 9-24 overall.

At Hoopa, meanwhile, the Warriors won 25-5, 25-16, 25-12.

Tatianna Colegrove and Nae-rew Martin both continued to lead the way for the Hoopa girls, but they weren’t the only players to have an impact as they kept the pressure on SB in the race for a league championship.

“It was a team effort all the way around,” head coach Amber McCovey-Billings said.

It was also senior night for the team and all seven of them — Colegrove, Martin, Nalani Colegrove, Diamond Bibancos, Jewely Bibancos, Renee Doolittle and Dawna Lee Rangel — played a key role.

Doolittle and Tahlia Booth both had good nights serving, along with Tatianna Colegrove, Nalani Colegrove and Diamond Bibancos.
