Corsairs getting respect in the rankings after big weekend win

Ray Hamill/HumboldtSports.com – The Corsairs have won three straight games.

By Ray Hamill — After three straight wins, the Corsairs are getting some respect around the state.

This week, College of the Redwoods is positioned just outside the top-25 in both major California community college football polls, as one of nine additional teams receiving votes.

The Corsairs are 3-2 after Saturday’s thrilling 44-42 double-overtime win over Foothill College at the Redwood Bowl.

The previously undefeated Owls were ranked No. 20 in one poll and No. 23 in the other last week, but have fallen out of the top 25 after losing to CR.

The Corsairs have been an exciting bunch to watch this year, with two of the wins coming in overtime and all five of their games being decided by eight or fewer points.

The Corsairs play at Los Medanos on Saturday night at 6 p.m.
