By Ray Hamill — The results are in and North Coast sports fans have spoken loud and clear — the Hoopa Warriors are red-hot favorites to win this year’s Little 4 in football.

The league kicks off on Friday night with a pair of games.

The Hoopa Warriors will host the Arcata Tigers and the Ferndale Wildcats will travel to McKinleyville to play the Panthers.

But before the first snap in league play, fans believe the Warriors (3-1) will be the team to beat.

In a Humboldt Sports poll this week, Hoopa pulled in an overwhelming 72 percent of the votes cast.

McKinleyville and Ferndale are a distant second and third, respectively, with little to separate them.

The Panthers (1-3) received 12 percent of the votes, while the 2-2 Wildcats got 10 percent.

Rounding out the field, the Arcata Tigers (1-3) received six percent.

The league will be played out over the six weeks, with all four teams playing each other twice.

There were a total of 228 votes cast in our poll.
