By Ray Hamill — The Little 4 kicks off this weekend with two games on tap and six weeks of excitement to look forward to.
On Friday night, Ferndale travels to play McKinleyville, and on Saturday afternoon, the Hoopa Warriors will host Arcata.
And the big question is who will win this year’s championship?
Well, according to MaxPrep.com, Hoopa is the highest ranked of the four league rivals (No. 58 overall), followed in order by McKinleyville (No. 62), Ferndale (No. 63) and Arcata (No. 80).
Vote for the team you think will win this year’s league title and we’ll publish the results later in the week.

The Warriors are 3-1 and have impressed in their pre-league schedule with comfortable wins over South Fork, Fort Bragg and Trinity.
Aside from a one-point loss at St. Bernard’s, the Hoopa defense has shut out opponents in 10 of 12 quarters, holding both South Fork and Trinity scoreless.
Arcata is 1-3 and has suffered tough defeats against Eureka, Sutter and St. Bernard’s, with the Tigers’ lone win coming at Florin High in the Sacramento area.
The defending league champs, however, won’t give up the title without a fight.
McKinleyville and Ferndale, meanwhile, will both also fancy their chances to win it all.
The Panthers are 1-3, but have played a tougher schedule than their Little 4 rivals and their defense has impressed in most of their games.
The Wildcats are 2-2, with nice wins over South Fork and Fortuna.
Friday’s game at Mack could be one of the games of the weekend, with just one place separating the two in the MaxPreps rankings, while you can expect an enthusiastic crowd for the game in Hoopa, with the Warriors playing at home for the first time this season.
