VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS — Another busy weekend in local football

By Ray Hamill — It was another busy weekend on the local high school and college football fields, with lots of action and several big plays.

Check out our video highlights from multiple games above.

On Friday night, the Del Norte Warriors had another impressive win to go to 4-1 on the season, topping McKinleyville 48-3 at Mack High.

The Warriors stormed out to a 35-0 lead by halftime and never looked back.

The following afternoon, College of the Redwoods held on to beat Monterey Peninsula 34-28 in warm and sunny conditions at the Redwood Bowl.

The win was the second straight for the Corsairs, with two local players — Del Norte’s Levi Cox-Cooley and Eureka’s Gary Jimenez — both scoring crucial TDs.

A couple of hours later, as the fog rolled in, St. Bernard’s comfortably got the better of Arcata, 34-6 at Mack High, with senior running back Grant Omey making some big runs to help set the tone early on.
