The Fortuna Huskies celebrated their homecoming this week, although things didn’t go quite as hoped for in Friday’s game.

The Huskies, who were also playing their home opener, fell 45-14 to Foothill and dropped to 1-4 on the season.

After giving up the opening score of the game, Fortuna responded immediately by marching 70 yards on seven plays and scoring on a 14-yard TD pass from quarterback Chad Mussey to receiver Rogan Gans.

The reliable Will Stringer’s PAT gave the home team a 7-6 lead early in the second quarter.

Foothill, however, was just getting started and would score on three straight possession on the way to opening up a 26-7 lead by halftime.

They kept it going in the second half, adding three more TDs to open up a 45-7 lead, before Fortuna’s Quinn Hall broke free for a 55-yard TD run with just 20 seconds remaining.

Stringer would add a second PAT to close out the scoring.

The loss was the second straight for the Huskies, who ran for 172 yards.

Hall finished with 79 yards on four carries, while Matt Letter added 49 yards on nine carries.

Mussey completed 3 of 8 passes for 60 yards.

The Huskies will try to bounce back next week when they hit the road again to play at Gridley.
